Reading and Music list Jul - Dec 2011

December 2011

Some notes: Chic Chinese lit; with stories of foot binding, nu shu and female obligations and duties. Nu shu is a secret Chinese writing created by women living in Hunan province of China. Reading it brought back memories of meeting Yue Qing, back in HK in the nineties. Yue Qing was making her documentary about nushu then - Nu Shu: A Hidden Language of Women in China. I am dying to get my hands on it now. I wished I had talked to her more about it then.
